Works with many common sign-in emails. Some sites and app-only links still need a trip to your inbox.

You grant read-only access. The app cannot send, change, or delete your mail. Remove an account whenever you want.

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14 or later, Google Chrome, and a Gmail or Outlook account. Dumbwaiter has two parts: a small Mac app and a Chrome extension. Some work accounts need administrator approval.

Why does it need access to my email?

It needs to read message content to find your code or link. Google does not offer a permission for only sign-in emails. You connect each account through Google or Microsoft, and can remove access at any time.

Does it catch every code and link?

No. It supports many common email formats, but a site may use an unusual form, send a code as an image, or require a phone app to open a link. You can still use your inbox in those cases.

Can it sign in for me?

It can fill a code after you choose it. It can open a link after you click. It does not submit the website’s sign-in form. A login link may itself complete the sign-in when you open it.

Suggested codes can be copied to your clipboard before a click. You can turn off “Copy codes automatically” in the extension settings.

Can I connect more than one inbox?

Yes. Connect the Gmail and Outlook accounts that receive your codes, including personal and work accounts. You can remove an account at any time.

How do I install it?

Download Dumbwaiter, drag it to Applications, and open it. Follow the setup steps to add the Chrome extension and connect your inbox.
